Naked Lady!

For those of you that know where I live, you know that we have some sort of half-way house across the street. This is good for housing people that like to watch every move we make, look inside our garage every time we open it, break into our neighbor's car, sing in the middle of the street, and generally anyone who likes to be creepy and stare at people. Well, today I got home from grocery shopping and saw the mailman putting the mail in their mailbox with a completely NAKED woman talking to him!! She had a shaved head. So, I came in and told Glenn and he went out to talk to the creepy men that thought it was funny! I called the GGPD. So, can any of you top that?!

Sick Girl!!

Well, I have been taking care of a sick girl the past four days! I have been thrown up on every night for 3 nights! She's had a high fever and has been so uncomfortable that last night when she begged and begged for a brownie, I felt so bad for her that I caved! I cut her the littlest brownie I could. So, imagine my surprise when she woke up crying and I enter the bedroom to find chocolate vomit all over Maryn, her pillowcase and my comforter! I'm a super-smart mom I guess!! Luckily today she seems to be doing better. The fever is almost gone and she seems more herself. Now if I can reteach her that I am not her personal assistant, we'll be fine! "Mom, I need colder water." "Mom, you need to come to bed now so I can sleep." "Mom, you need to bring me the phone so I can call Grandma English." "Mom, will you put ice in my orange juice?" "Mom, I'm not talking to you anymore if you don't listen to me." It goes on and on! But, we love her! She really is a sweet girl.

Updates!

Well, so much has happened recently. The death of our prophet was such a surprise. He was so vibrant, it just seemed like he could live forever. I remember when I got to see him. I was singing in a YW's choir for a Saturday afternoon session of General Conference in Oct. 1990. Pres. Benson was in the hospital at that time. Pres. Monson walked in and promptly took his seat. Then Pres. Hinkley walked in smiling and shaking the girl's hands all through the front row of the choir loft and waving to the rest of us that were farther away. I remember the spirit so strongly confirming that those men were Apostles of God. I will never forget the sweetness of his smile and the brightness of his countenance.

I got a new calling yesterday. I'm the new Primary Secretary. I'm excited to work with the new presidency because they are all great women. Plus, it will be the perfect calling if I ever get pregnant!

I just wanted to thank my awesome friend M who brightens my day with her sparkling personality and awesome sense of humor! I don't get to see her much but she's the "sun" in sunshine! Thanks for being there for me even when you're not here! XO!

Pizza Night!

Last night was so much fun! Glenn has been wanting to make pizza for the past couple of weeks and finally the day arrived! You see, Glenn's dad makes this special pizza recipe and Glenn's the only one who knows how to make it. It's a family favorite since his childhood and he's been craving it! So, I budgeted extra grocery money and invited our friends over to share in the homemade pizza experience! It was a fun night!! My friend R and her family came over and we ate pizza, the boys played video games, the girls played playdough, the baby had a meltdown (he almost starved to death!), and we played "Ticket to Ride". Then we had cherry pie for dessert! It was so perfect on a rainy night! The house was nice and warm and smelled yummy and we had good friends to share it with!

A Fun Day Off!

Well, we had a great day today! Glenn went out and got some chinese food for lunch and we all ate together before he had to go to work. Then my friend R and I met at Chuck E Cheese's and let the kids run free.

Yesterday was a big day at church. I got released from my calling along with the rest of the RS presidency. I had mixed emotions. The first was a wave of relief because this calling was the hardest I've ever had. Then I felt the sadness of leaving the other women that I'd grown so close to. As of now I have no calling.

For dinner last night I was invited over to the Jenkin's. We had the best time! We ate a delicious ham dinner with all of the sides you could imagine- seriously- there were rolls, sauteed mushrooms, asparagus, ceasar salad, funeral potatos, and jello salad. Then we played a hilarious game that had us laughing so hard! Thank you JJ!

Oh, yeah, after all that about Maryn being so sick, she woke up completely fine on Sunday morning- no temperature at all! It's a good thing too because she would have died if she had to stay home from church!

Busy Week-end!

Hi Everyone! Well I have caught the baking bug! I've decided to teach myself how to bake bread without the bread machine. Yesterday I made rolls for the first time and they turned out pretty good. I did an egg bread recipe. The only thing was that they didn't rise as much as I'd have liked them to. I think the water wasn't warm enough. Next on my list is a honey wheat bread recipe. Feel free to leave me tips- I need them! That means you, J!

Well, litlle Maryn is sick. She woke up from her nap with a temp of 101 degrees! I just put her to bed and she was complaining that her throat hurt. Poor girl! I knew that we've had too good of luck lately with all the illnesses going around! Anyway, she was forced to miss the Ward Chili Cook-off tonight. She was pretty devastated because she had looked forward to it for 2 days. She cried and cried when Charles got to go with our friends. (He really wanted to be a judge this year! Thanks J!) But this sweet little girl said her goodnight prayer and blessed Charles that he would have a good time at the party. Moments don't get better than that.

I'd like to tell C&L thank you for inviting me to the wonderful baby shower I went to today! The food was so good! They did a luau party with some homemade teriyaki chicken, rice, potstickers, mini egg rools, California rolls, and L's delicious Spinach and Strawberry salad! I even won a prize (a See's gift certificate)!

This morning we were able to get Charles signed up for Little League. He's so excited! He picked number 99 for his jersey because he said it was the biggest number they had! I can't wait to watch him play. I'm even ready for all the time demands, I think...

Car Wash!

We've had a major breakthrough last night! Glenn washed my car! For our whole marriage we've debated about the cars. We've had his car, her car and he always has said that my car is my responsibility. And I always point out that his dad wouldn't make his mom wash the car or take it in for oil changes or repairs. So, when he went outside last night to wash his truck I naturally assumed that mine wouldn't get done. What a surprise when I went out and my car was clean! I was so happy! Thank you Glenn!

Lunch Date!

Yesterday Glenn and I went on a lunch date. We've decided that it's fun to catch a quick lunch together at least once a month. Since Glenn works nights and week-ends it has been almost impossible to find time to go out without the kids. So, one day a few months ago I asked him if he wanted to come with me to drop off Maryn at preschool and go out to lunch. We ended up at Olive Garden and had the best time! At first we had some akward silence- on first dates there usually is- but after a few minutes the conversation took off! Since then we've gone to IHOP, Burger King, Wienersnizel, Pizza Hut, and even did take-out Chinese. The cool thing is that now Glenn actually asks me out and gets so excited to go! I know that we're not fancy, but I let Glenn pick because he really hardly ever goes anywhere anymore and he's always craving something! The most awesome thing about dating at lunch time is that it saves money most of the time!

Gingerbread Recipe

OK! Cory said the rules of blogging are that I have to post the recipe if I brag about it. The selfish part of me just wants to keep it to myself so that everyone will think I'm such a good baker, but the lazy part of me doesn't want to be making cookies for everyone either. So, here it is:

Britta Brodowski's Gingerbread Cookies

1 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg (Beaten)
1/2 Cup Mollasses
2 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Cloves
1/2 tsp.Nutmeg
1/2 tsp. Ginger
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
Blend together well and then add:

2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
2 Cups All Purpose Flour

Bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes. Don't let them get too brown!

Icing:
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
A few drops of Water
Food Coloring if desired

Gingerbread Madness!

I just had to post some pictures of Christmas Eve! I know that it's long over but I am so proud of the gingerbread cookies I made with the kids! My friend Britta gave me the most delicious recipe. The cookies turned out so chewy and wonderful! Anyway, Glenn had to work Christmas Eve until 2:30am so the kids and I started a new tradition. I let them go crazy with the decorating- can you guess Maryn's favorite topping? She ate almost the whole bowl of chocolate chips!

The New Charles!

I just wanted everyone to see Charles new face! He lost both of his upper teeth before his lower one even grew in! He's quite the Jack-o-lantern! Of course he's very happy to get visits from the tooth fairy. His tooth fairy had planned on giving him a dollar for each number of teeth he lost but, after calculating the cost, she must have decided to go with quarters. He got 4 quarters for one tooth and 5 quarters for the other tooth. He was so excited! And, being the wonderful brother he is, he decided to use some of his hard-earned cash to buy Maryn some chocolate milk that she wanted so badly.

Fun Day with Maryn!

So, yesterday I had the best day with Maryn! My friend Ronda invited us to Disneyland. She has a daughter named Amy the same age as Maryn. We had the best time together! We were so excited to go because it's been 8 months since we've had our annual passes and we've missed it so much! Well, we packed a lunch and Ronda picked us up and we were off! Maryn and Amy were so cute together, they both hated the Matterhorn and loved the Princesses and It's a Small World. It was fun to do all of the "girl" things. When Ronda had to leave, Maryn and I stayed and had some more fun. We ate cotton candy and watched the Electrical Parade.
Glenn and Charles also had a fun day. After Charles was done getting 100% +2 on his Spelling test and 100% on his Math test, Glenn took him to see "The Waterhorse" which he loved. Then they went to McDonald's for dinner. So, the girl's weren't the only ones who had a great day! After we were all done, Glenn and Charles came and watched the fireworks with us. It was the best day in a long time!

Hi Everyone!

So, this is our blog! I've wanted to do it for a while and my friend Mindy said that I had to, so now I'm here!
